This new charitable organisation is called Missionary Outreach Ministries and includes some of the same personnel. Missionary Outreach has stopped fundraising and will close. We are delighted that the work will continue. We want to thank those who have supported us in the past and we encourage you to support the work of the new charitable organisation going forward.
Further updates will follow.

We have recently heard from Josiah in Liberia. Despite the pandemic of Ebola, he and his small team of volunteers are making brilliant progress on the 'Pilot Scheme' of 'Golden Age Refuge'. The photos show the walls of the three room unit, almost up to roof level and also our Base, with completed 'Palava Hut'.
28th October 2014
Thanks to all our sponsors who supported Dave Fryer and Mike Cunningham in the recent 'Macclesfield Half Marathon'. Sponsorship for this event and other events this year will be in the order of £1800, when Gift Aid is claimed.

We recently had our AGM in South Shields again this year at Derek's home.Blandena Smith, Richard's wife joined us this year as a Member.
Colin Percival, a volunteer, who has been with us on several outreaches, was also able to join us this year. The photo shows the group during the meeting.
7th September 2013
On the 7th of the month ourAGM was held at Derek's home in South Shields. The meeting was very production and plans were finalized for the next outreach. The progress of arrangements for the container were discussed and there is some positive signs from Liberia. A photo shows the meeting under way.
Last year, when traveling home from a similar meeting we called on Betty Hunter, a friend from Mercy Ship's. We told her the story of a little chicken which adopted the team on our last outreach. She promptly agreed to write a small book telling the tale of the chicken, who incidentally was called 'Kentucky'. This year we called again and Betty showed us the progress on the book which is now almost finished.
She hopes to have the book ready for sale shortly , the proceeds going to Charity funds. The photo shows Cliff with Betty and a model of 'Kentucky'.
25th August 2013
August Cliff, Dave, Ann Seaman, Mike Hurst and Mike Cunningham ran in the Lancaster Half Marathon for a Charity fundraiser. Mike Cunningham was the first of the team home with an impressive time of 1hr 45min.
The others all finished but a lot later. Ann and Mike were next home in 2h 27min with Cliff and Dave in 2h 37 & 38min respectively. Cliff and Dave were first and second in the 70plus class but as they were the only ones in that class it sounds better than saying that they were towards the back of the field. The photo shows the team before the event - photos after not a pretty sight.
The Half Marathon together
with the WGC Salvation Army 10k in July will raise an impressive £1600
plus, including Gift Aid, for the Charities work in Africa.'
18th May 2013
We are currently organising a container to be shipped to Monrovia. Contents will include a 'pick up truck', power supply, donated tools and over 2000 Bibles which have been donated by the charity 'Book Aid' and Richard. The photo shows Cliff and Colin with the truck. This is our first venture with containers and we trust the venture will be successful and that the contents will improve our ability to help the poor of Liberia.
17th October 2012
Cliff Jones and Dave Fryer completed the Congleton Half Marathon on Sunday 7th October for our yearly fundraising event. Cliff finished in a time of 2h 15min with Dave finishing in 2h 33min - not world breaking times but good considering the hilly nature of the course, with one big hill close to the finish - giving the race it's name -'The sting in the tail'. The photo shows Cliff and Dave with friends, Mike Hurst and Ann Seaman before the race.

Cliff requested these comments be posted in our news.
If I had needed any encouragement for the humanitarian work our charity is engaged in in Liberia, my recently falling sick there would certainly have provided it.
I was admitted into Hospital with a number of serious problems including Malaria, I was too ill to argue with the taxi driver demanding six times the going rate, so I gave him what money I had, about twenty five US dollars
In the hospital, registration asked for four hundred and fifty US dollars. Before I could receive any treatment, I said that I did not have it and the nurses stopped working on me and began taking away the drips etc.
My Liberian friend got them to continue.
We both knew that I would be able to raise the money needed.
The UN reports that Liberia is one of the three poorest countries in the world living on less than two US dollars a day. Much of our work is with people earning no money a day.
Some of our project work includes the building of a clinic in an outlying region.
We are also trying to raise support for a Salvation Army mobile Medical unit doing fantastic work in remote villages and our caring for the elderly with no hope of, either homes or medical facilities.
IF YOU would like to Help us to HELP THEM, Donations can be made on this website via Pay Pal. Blessings
Cliff Jones

Cliff Jones our Field Director and Colin Percival, a volunteer builder have recently returned from our 2012 outreach in Liberia. Good progress was made with our projects but Cliff has had some health issues for which he is still receiving treatment.
Despite difficulties, good progress was made on our projects.
Our partnered project with the Salvation Army at Grand Basa is still awaiting completion of a survey but moves have been made and progress is expected shortly. Our 'Pilot Scheme' with the Golden Age Refuge Home has been progressed with the setting up of vegetable gardens and the part construction of the units.
Our office accommodation and compound is now complete. Construction of our workshop and kitchen is ongoing.
The Agricultural project in Bomi County which we are assisting was started and two acres of land cleared and planted. The team were very impressed by the help and co-operation of local volunteers who assisted with all our projects.
Start of the Golden Age Refuge Home 'Pilot Scheme'.
30 April 2012
Cliff Jones and Colin Percival are presently in Liberia on this years outreach. They will be there until the end of May having completed an outreach of ten weeks.
Their first task has been to complete our small Office, which is a requirement of the Liberian government for all Ingo's operating in Liberia. When complete this will also give us a base to operate from which is near to airport.
During this work, contact will be made with the Salvation Army at Cotton Tree to arrange for continuation of the fitting out of the medical Clinic at Grand Basa. This is one of our main objectives on this outreach.
The photograph, taken on our last outreach, shows Cliff meeting with Lt. Colonel Festus Oloruntoba, Commanding Officer of the Salvation Army in Liberia to formalise our partnership agreement with them at our development at Grand Basa.
In addition contact will be made with the 'Golden Age Rest Home Committee' to progress our 'pilot scheme' action plan as a start to the project which will include construction of a corner unit of the rest home for the elderly.

Our Projects and Field Director Cliff Jones setting out on a six hundred miles cycle ride of the canal system, to raise funds to help finnish the Clinic in Liberia in Feb. 2012. Cliff says of this ride, "it was the most exhausting thing I have ever done, overestimated myself, underestimated the distance, the terain, each days journey and the fact that I may get injured".
Cliff did get injured when he was thrown from his bike and it landed on the tendon in his heel. He carried on with difficulty completing EIGHT HUNDRED MILES. It took him three days longer than planned.
If you would like to help him finnish the clinic in Grand Bassa Liberia or the more general work Missionary Outreach is engaged in please send your support through Pay Pal on our support page.

We would like to congratulate Ann Seaman and Mike Hurst who recently ran the Hoylake 10K race in aid of 'Missionary Outreach'. They completed the course in less than an hour, which is a considerabe achievement given that Ann is visually impaired. Mike guided Ann during the race which is also an achievement given the the number of runners taking part. We would also like to thank them for their efforts is raising funds in sponsorship for Missionary Outreach which will be used in our work in Liberia
.

Richard is currently in England preparing to leave for Tanzania to start a new chapter in his life. David has recently returned to Mercy Ships serving on the Africa Mercy as 2nd engineer. The ship is currently in Benin W. Africa. Peter is working quietly behind the scenes from his home in Scotland developing the nuts and bolts of Missionary Outreach. Cliff Jones and Andrew Hinshaw have been in Liberia since February 2010 to continue with our latest outreach there.
This is the clinic/hospital & birthing centre. Our team have have just returned to the UK, leaving the local community to continue the work.
Missionary Outreach is an accredited INGO in Liberia. The land on which the project is being developed has been given to the community by a local land owner through the Chiefs and Elders of the area. All involved local parties are in agreement and are fully supportive. The last phase of our work included the completion of a clinic and birthing centre, with the addition of a small two ward eight bed hospital facility
These are the local Chiefs & Elders. The white man is one of our volunteers Colin getting himself in the picture.
work was also started on a new school for the village. Before the rains came, the land had been cleared and foundations laid in. We had over 50 volunteer workers from six different villages. A teacher who will work at the school wanted to hold a class on the site before we left.
These same villages elected a committee of twelve representatives to oversee the project and take responsability for it's management.
Missionary Outreach has appointed one of the committee to act as our representative . We also appointed Annie to take charge of the clinic, she is the areas senior midwife.
Part of our time was also given to build a small accommodation and office which was completed.
The Local Government officials in Grand Bassa are asking us to look at other areas for similar development projects. These may well develop into a longer term involvement in Liberia, after successful completion of the current projects.
Perhaps you would like to serve with us or if you would like more information then please feel free to get in touch. We look forward to hearing from you.
